Thaddeus Mason Harris (1769-1842) collection, 1830?-1841.

This collection consists mainly of manuscripts and materials relating to Thaddeus Mason Harris' 1841 book, Biographical memorials of James Oglethorpe. There are research materials, illustrations for the book, letters to Harris about the book, receipts, copyright documents, information about the Salzburgers, and a lecture on General Oglethorpe by Joseph Willard. There are also two copies of Harris' Biographical memorials of James Oglethorpe. One copy is pasted inside a scrapbook and appears to be a draft as it has editing marks on it. The second copy is the published version. (Cont.) The miscellaneous file in this collection contains a list of "family treasures" and an obituary for Harris' grandson, Charles Harris, who died in Cambridge, Massachusetts around 1908. The dated materials in this collection are from 1841, but the research materials are probably from the 1830s.
